About Saylor Lane Studio
I’m Josie Costea,
With over 15 years of experience in design and development, I founded Saylor Lane Studio—named after my daughter—with a vision of creating homes that are as meaningful as they are beautiful. What began as a passion for transforming spaces has grown into a full-service design studio specializing in architectural design, interior design, exterior design, and residential development, guiding each project from the initial concept through construction and the final finishing details.
As a designer, developer, mother, I understand that a home is so much more than a collection of beautiful finishes. It’s where families gather, friends connect, milestones are celebrated, and everyday memories are made. That’s why every project begins by understanding how our clients live, entertain, and experience their homes.
Our approach is centered on creating timeless, highly curated spaces that reflect each client’s unique lifestyle and vision. Whether it’s a custom new build, a full-scale renovation, or a thoughtful refresh, we believe great design should feel effortless, functional, and deeply personal.
At Saylor Lane Studio, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all design. We believe every home should tell a story—your story—and we’re honored to help bring it to life through thoughtful design, expert planning, and beautiful transformations that stand the test of time.
Our Team
Design has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up with an architect as a father, I developed an appreciation for thoughtful architecture, timeless design, and the impact a well-designed home can have on the way people live. That early passion led me to pursue a degree in Interior Design, and over the past seven years I've had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including luxury residential remodels, model homes, and select commercial spaces.
Throughout my career, I've gained experience managing projects from initial concept through construction, collaborating closely with homeowners, architects, contractors, and skilled trades to bring each vision to life. While every project is unique, my passion has always been creating refined, highly personalized homes that balance beauty, functionality, and enduring quality.
I believe great design is more than selecting finishes or furniture—it's about understanding how a family lives and creating spaces that feel effortless, inviting, and distinctly their own. My goal is to deliver a seamless design experience while crafting homes that are timeless, thoughtfully curated, and made to be enjoyed for years to come.

Aaliyah Dickens
Design AssistantMy love for design began at a young age through fashion and the influence of my grandmother. Together, we would choose fabrics and create outfits from scratch, bringing my ideas to life. Over time, my love for fabrics, textures, and color naturally expanded beyond fashion, and I began to see those same elements through a new lens in interior design.
That passion led me to study fashion in London, where I found myself just as inspired by the spaces around me as by fashion itself. The city's architecture, history, and diverse mix of cultures and styles gave me a deeper appreciation for how design shapes the way a space looks, feels, and is experienced. That appreciation continued to grow while living in Aspen, Colorado, a distinctive mountain community where architecture, natural surroundings, and lifestyle are closely connected. Gaining experience in residential interiors there confirmed that interior design was the path I wanted to pursue.
What draws me most to interior design is its ability to tell someone's story. A home is more than a collection of beautiful pieces; it can reflect the people who live there: their personality, experiences, memories, and the way they want to feel in their space. I love bringing together different influences, textures, colors, and meaningful details to create something that feels collected and personal rather than simply decorated.
Alan Shera
Partner I General Contractor Alan Shera is a real estate broker and general contractor with over 20 years of experience in real estate and construction. Having remodeled or built more than 200 homes, he brings a practical understanding of both the real estate market and the construction process to his work. He focuses on new construction projects throughout California, drawing on an extensive background in development and building.
Alan holds two degrees from the University of Southern California: one in Political Science and one in Public Policy, Planning, and Development. He also earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from California Western School of Law, complementing his hands-on experience with an academic foundation in policy, planning, and law.
With experience that spans property development, building, and brokerage, Alan looks at each project from more than one perspective. He understands how decisions made during planning and construction can affect a property’s long-term value, and he works to connect the vision for a new build with the realities of bringing it to life.
Alan’s approach is grounded in his knowledge of how homes are built and how they are positioned in the market. Whether he is evaluating an opportunity or working on a new construction project, he brings a thoughtful, hands-on perspective to every stage.
Billy Revel
General ContractorBilly brings 35 years of hands-on construction experience to every project. Over his career he has worked across nearly every phase of building, with deep expertise in major electrical and plumbing work, the systems that make a home safe, functional, and built to last.
Before joining the team, Billy spent 10 years as a project manager at Andersen Windows and Doors, one of the most respected names in the industry. There he managed projects from start to finish, coordinating crews, schedules, and installations while holding every job to a high standard of quality.
That combination of trade skill and project leadership means Billy understands both how the work gets done and how to keep it on track. Whether he's in the field or overseeing a build, he brings practical problem-solving, attention to detail, and the kind of judgment that only comes from decades on the job.
